Prepare For Marination of Prawns
Get 25-30 King Sized Prawns
Prepare 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
Get 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
Get 1 tsp Salt
Take For Tempering
Take 3 tbsp Coconut Oil
Get 4-5 Dried Kashmiri Red Chillies
Take 3-4 Garlic cloves (Finely Chopped)
Make ready 1/2 inch Ginger (Finely Chopped)
Make ready 3-4 Green Chillies (Slited)
Take 2 Spring Curry Leaves
Take 5-6 Pearl Onions (Chopped)
Prepare For the Gravy
Make ready 2 tbsp Coconut Oil
Get 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
Take 1 small Onion (Finely Chopped)
Take 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
Get 2 tsp Coriander Powder
Make ready 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
Make ready 3 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
Take pinch Methi (fenugreek)Powder
Get as needed Hot Water
Prepare 2 tsp Tamarind
Instructions to make Spicy Prawns Curry:
Firstly, clean and wash the prawns well. Drain off the excess water. To it add lemon juice, turmeric powder and salt. Marinate for few hours or overnight.
For Tempering: In a pan heat coconut oil. Once the oil is hot, saute all the ingredients mentioned under tempering, one by one ie. individually and remove in a plate and set aside. Or after the prawns curry is ready, you can temper it all together and immediately add it to the curry.
In the same pan, add some more coconut oil. When the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle. Add onions and saute till the onions are translucent. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell leaves. Add the coriander powder, methi powder, kashmiri red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt and saute it for a minute.
Add little hot water and the marinated prawns and cook on medium heat for few minutes.
Add some more hot water and fish tamarind and cover and cook till the prawns are done.
Add the tempering to the prawns curry. Mix well and keep it covered for few minutes.
With the remaining prawns, I mixed little ginger garlic paste, pepper powder and kashmiri red chilli powder and fried it alongwith some curry leaves.
Coated few of the prawns with semolina and fried it.
